Grilled chicken burgers

Serves 4

Regular ($8.46/ $2.12) and Thai Version ($9.73/ $2.43)

Regular version ingredients:

  • 1-pound extra-lean ground chicken
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs, more as needed
  • 1/2 small onion, finely grated
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Thai version ingredients:

  • 1-pound extra-lean ground chicken
  • 3 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 lime, zested
  • 2-3 Thai chilis of 2-3 jalapeño, seeded and minced
  • 3 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup panko or regular breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons minced cilantro
  • 1 tablespoon minced mint
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided

To serve:

  • Burger buns
  • Cheese
  • Ketchup/ mustard/ pickles
  • Lettuce
  • Tomatoes

Directions:

Regular version:

1. Combine all the ingredients, gently mix with your hands or a wooden spoon until just combined.

2. Form 4 patties with the mixture and then refrigerate until your grill is preheated.

3. Heat your grill to medium-high, and grill patties about 5- 6 minutes per side on medium heat, making sure to cook the patties to 165 degrees before serving.

4. Serve burgers on burger buns with desired toppings.

Thai version:

1. Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and gently mix with your hands or wooden spoon until just combined.

2. Form 4 patties with the mixture and then refrigerate until your grill is preheated.

3. Heat your grill to medium-high, and grill patties about 5- 6 minutes per side on medium heat, making sure to cook the patties to 165 degrees before serving.

4. Serve burgers on burger buns with desired toppings.
